Essay Competition on Consumer Law and Policy | Commemorating National Consumer Day 2024

The Chair on Consumer Law and Practice at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru  organised an essay competition during October-November 2024 to commemorate National Consumer Day 2024 (24th December). This essay competition sought to stimulate interest and foster growth amongst students to explore and engage with contemporary and seminal issues in the field of consumer law and policy. The winners of this Essay Competition were declared and felicitated by the Department of Consumer Affairs on December 24, 2024.

Results

First Place: Olivia Ruhil Olivia Ruhil is a lawyer and a second-year master’s student in Public Policy at IIT Delhi. She holds an LLM in Human Rights and Constitutional Law from National Law University, Delhi, and a BBA LLB (Hons.). Her work focuses on the intersection of law, technology, and governance, exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence in legal systems and policymaking. Second Place: Kavya Shukla and Aditya Raj Kavya Shukla is a third-year student of B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) at the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab. She has a keen interest in consumer law and policy and criminal law and intellectual property law. Her academic pursuits are driven by a passion for social justice and advocacy. Aditya Raj is a third-year student of B.A. LL.B. at University of Allahabad. He is enthusiastic about exploring the intersections of consumer law, policy, and human rights. His research interests lie in promoting consumer welfare and advocating for inclusive policy frameworks and in environmental laws. Third Place: Shreyasee Swaroopa Barman Shreyasee is a 1st year law student from Christ (Deemed to be) University, Bangalore. She takes a deep interest in legal developments and dissecting its overall socio- economic impact by bringing in a fresh perspective wherever possible. Having a curious bent and disposition towards learning new things, she aims to keep exploring niche areas in law and allied fields through further writing and research.
